Our classes are currently carried out in three buildings, divided according to the following sections:
The School, over the last year:
The year 2008 marked the 25th year of the School in operation and therefore it witnessed many changes within the School. Over the summer the entire School was overhauled and all classrooms, corridors, labs, libraries, offices and outer areas were repainted and refurnished, toilets were repaired, cafeteria, meeting spots demarcated and green areas replanted. Summer school was also introduced in which, grooming, arts and crafts, sports and English classes were conducted. In the session 2008-2009 humanities were established at the O level, beginning with two subjects; Sociology and Environmental Management. Career counselling sessions were held before the commencement of Final Examination for the students and parents of class VIII to help them in choosing their groups and subjects. Lectures from people of different professions were invited for students to get a flavour of the various career paths available to them. The DPS Alumni Association launched at the end of the year, has created an opportunity for the ex-students of the School to mentor their juniors and reacquaint themselves with their alma mater.
Several training sessions were also organised for the staff. Teachers received short courses within the School and were also sent to the British Council, SPELT and other well reputed teachers’ training institutes. First Aid courses were conducted for the higher classes, courtesy of Aga Khan as well as other health awareness modules were arranged. Adult literacy for the menial staff, set up earlier on in the year, has proved to be a great success.
