Rules & Regulations

Dawood Public School is concerned with providing quality education, along with imparting special attention to the moral, intellectual and social upbringing of its students.
Code of Conduct
-
Students are expected to remain courteous and congenial at all times. They must continuously demonstrate consideration for others.
-
Respect and regard for others is essential. Bullying; - physical or verbal - and any other kind of intimidation tactics will be dealt with severely. Abusive and racist language will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Students must take pride in their uniform and wear correct school uniform (as defined in ‘Uniform and Dress Code’ below).

Students must show respect to school property. Defacing school property and littering is strictly forbidden. Any marking, destroying or tampering with school property will result in disciplinary action and heavy fines.

It is important that any absence from School is supported by a note from home, so as not to be considered as truancy. A written application for leaves of absence for any reason must be submitted to the Principal.

A written or verbal explanation must be submitted from a parent or guardian to the Principal in certain circumstances, such as:
-
the student’s absence from School.
-
a request for relief from homework.
-
failure to complete homework within the given deadline.
-
Should a student miss lessons, for any reason, it is her responsibility to catch up with the missed work.
-
The name of a student will be struck off the roll if she is absent from school without notice for ten or more days.
-
The School Management reserves the right to expel any student at any time for misconduct, indiscipline, low attendance or her involvement in such activities as defined under 'Long absence without Notice' and 'Diciplinary Problems' below.

Pupils should take a pride in all the work they do, and should always endeavour to meet their deadlines.

Littering and misuse of School Property is prohibited.

Pupils must not climb out of the School windows, or climb onto roofs or fences otherwise they will be suspended.

Pupils suffering from any infectious diseases must not be sent to school.

We have strict disciplinary rules which we require our students to follow not only during the School hours but also on the way to and from School even during games. They apply at any time to girls wearing the School uniform, or in any organized School group, or involved in any activity. We expect your full co-operation and support in this regard.

Parents are requested to support the School in maintaining discipline, in ensuring that their children are involved and actively participate in all the curricular and co-curricular activities of the School and that they abide by the School Rules and Regulations. Any disciplinary action taken by the School is final and binding.

Parents are strongly advised to interact with the staff and faculty members politely and courteously. They must try to be reasonable and logical in their demands. If there is a concern or issue which they feel strongly about, they should write a letter to the concerned authority.

The School reserves the right to evict from the School premises any parent found to be insulting, unruly, disrespectful and/or threatening and their progeny suspended or expelled and their security deposit withheld.

Any parent found to be attempting to bribe, manipulate and use unfair or illegal means for any purpose with any personnel from the School will face serious repercussions, which could include expulsion of their offspring, institution of legal proceedings, or any such action that the School Management deems fit.

Parents must pledge to preserve the integrity and security of the School and the respect of its staff and must not commit or perform any acts that may jeopardise the safety of the students or reputation of the institution.

The School reserves the right to carry out security checks on any person who comes into the school for safety reasons. Authorised members of the School may request proof of identity of any person who comes to pick up a child from the School. However, it is the responsibility and liability of the parents to ensure their child’s safety.

Parents must seek an appointment in order to meet with a faculty member and should ensure that they attend the Parent-Teacher Meetings to discuss the progress of their daughter/s.
It is absolutely forbidden for any person to park their cars in front of the gate or to obstruct the gate in any way. Visitors of the School must strive to be considerate and not in any way block the traffic outside the School.

Male relatives of students will not be allowed in the premises. They are requested to wait outside the gate to pick up the students.
For security reasons, parents are advised to only enter the School buildings for a valid reason.

The students who are expelled, for any reason, will not be eligible for refund of security deposit.
Banned Items:
Under no circumstances may the following be brought into the School:

Offensive weapons e.g. guns, knives, and dangerous sprays.

Racist materials.
-
Pornographic materials.
-
Lighters, matches, fireworks, pocket lasers.
-
Computer software, CD ROMs (except with permission from the ICT manager).
-
Radios.
-
Cigarettes, alcohol, illegal drugs.
School Term and School Timings
7:40 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (Monday to Thursday)
7:40 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (Friday)
During Ramadan:
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday)
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (Friday)

The School gates will be closed at 7:50 a.m.

Punctuality to School, lessons and other commitments is essential. Although, students
will be allowed to enter the School premises until 8:00 am. However, all late arrivals will not be permitted to attend the morning assembly and must collect in the area reserved for late-comers. In case of more than three late arrivals within a month, the student’s parents will be requested to furnish the School with a valid excuse.

Picking up Children from School:
Students are not allowed to leave the School early. However, prior permission should be taken in extremely unavoidable circumstances. The child must bring an application in the morning, and then only a gate pass will be issued. Only parents should come to pick up their children during School hours. They should not send the driver or other people.

Students are urged to tie their hair neatly. Students arriving to School in untidy uniform may be sent back home. Students are instructed to display their School Id Cards on their shirts. Make up, jewellery and nail varnish are strictly forbidden on a normal school day.

Students are allowed to wear high-heel or fancy shoes only on a function or a celebration day at School. Albeit, high-heel shoes can only be worn by the students of Class X and XI on such days.
Personal Items

The School does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage of personal items brought to the School.
-
Students will be severely penalized for bunking classes, for bringing MP-3, CDS, cameras, Indecent Magazines, Novels, cell phones and using abusive language.

Pupils’ Forgotten articles:
Bearers of pupils’ forgotten articles or lunch will not be given entry into the School during study hours as this disturbs the academic work. Please ensure that your child is carrying all required things herself in the morning.
Absences and Preparatory Leaves
Long Absence without Notice
-
If a student keeps away from School for more than 10 days without notifying the office, her name shall be struck off the roll and parents will be responsible for any problem arising as a result of their negligence. Parents must inform the School of the reason for the pupil’s absence via a letter or a phone call. They are also responsible for ensuring that her homework is collected from the School or that she has been exempted from receiving any homework. On her return, she must furnish a letter to the School from her parents elucidating the reason for her absence.

Students are not allowed to remain absent before the Mid Term and/or Final Term Exams. In such cases, the School has the discretion to deduct two marks per day, or may be barred from appearing in the Exams.

All students have to return after vacations in-time. Absence due to sickness must be supported by medical certificate for more than three days. Admission of any student remaining absent without intimation for 10 days will be cancelled.
Students Data Changes

If parents wish to change or alter the name of their child or any other details, they must contact the Administration Office. They will be required to fill a form by the Education Office, and follow the procedures stipulated by them.

The School Administration Office must be immediately intimated regarding any change in the students’ contact details.
Examination Rules

The students and their guardians are informed that the marks of the monthly tests shall be included in the Final Exam, in the aggregate form. Students are expected to be consistent and conscientious with regards to their studies.

Supplementary examinations may be held at the discretion of the School.
-
All Examination results are final. Parents and students have the right to see their examination papers, after the announcement of result, and will be re-evaluated by the DPS staff. After which, the results in the progress report cannot be challenged and must be accepted by parents/students with good grace. Defaulters in fee will not be granted this privilege nor will her result card be released unless dues are cleared.

If a student will be found cheating or involved in any other unfair means during examination then her paper will be taken back, a new copy will be given to reattempt the paper. Marks may also be deducted for using unfair means.

Students having attendance below 90% are not allowed to appear in the examination.
Visiting Hours

Visiting Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon; while complaints and discussions regarding a student’s progress and behaviour must be made in writing directly to the Principal and not to the class teacher. Parents or visitors are not allowed to see their children or their class teacher while in class. A prior appointment should be taken for a meeting with the Principal and the Incharge of the section.

Students are not allowed to bring any ex-student or relative in any of the School activity or function.
Disciplinary Problems

Damages to the school property.

Progress in poor or below average.

Attendance is irregular.

Aggressive behaviour, stealing, cheating, creating problems, indulging in politics in anti-social/school activities.

Any matter relating to the prestige of the school and/or management.
Punishments
-
Fine according to the damages caused or as prescribed.

Extra physical drill/stand up punishment.
-
Expulsion from school/suspension.
-
Warnings according to violation done.
-
Parents’ undertaking for not repeating the violation of rules.
